Free screening of Fowl Play March 5th

The good folks at Cosmo’s Vegan Shoppe have arranged a free screening of the documentary Fowl Play at Wonderroot. The screening is Friday, March 5th at 8pm. Oh, and tasty vegan refreshments will be provided by Cosmo’s and Dough Bakery.

Okay, we know. These things are hard to watch. But the more information you have, the easier it is to explain your position when you get those people that ask “why don’t you eat eggs?” Do you have a vegetarian friend that needs a little more convincing to give up eggs? Bring ‘em! You aren’t vegan but wonder why we are? Come on down!

Fowl Play is a documentary from Mercy For Animals that takes viewers on an unforgettable journey behind the closed doors of some of the country’s largest egg production facilities and graphically illustrates the heartbreaking plight of laying hens condemned to lives crowded inside file-drawer sized cages.

Through touching interviews with animal rescuers, undercover investigators, veterinarians, and animal behaviorists, we hear powerful stories motivated by kindness and courage from the dedicated individuals who are fighting to save the modern day hen- perhaps the most abused and exploited animal on earth.

Connecting the dots between consumer demand for meat, dairy and eggs and the perpetuation of animal abuse, Fowl Play leaves viewers with a groundbreaking message of personal responsibility and the potential each of us holds to change the world- one meal at a time.

The stop is located at Memorial Dr. and Stovall St.
WonderRoot is just 0.1 miles west of the bus stop.
Bus Route 21 is fed by the Five Points Station and Kensington Station.

Just got back from The Simpsons Movie. Definitely fun and worth it. I don’t want to give anything away, so I’ll just say that there’s something in there that I’m pretty sure is illegal in this state.

as a scanner darkly ended, a guy in front of me said “wow, that was a weird movie.” *blink* was he expecting a light romantic comedy? a shoot-em-up? 2 hours of nothing but explosions? it’s a philip k. dick story, at an art theater, with some funky animation thing going on. maybe the statement was simply an “i didn’t get it” admission. that’s okay. you don’t have to. me? fucked with my head. got out of the movie an hour ago and i still feel like i’m not quite back in this world. now that’s what i like in a movie. a $6 ticket to an alternate reality. (no, movies aren’t cheaper in my country. i went to a matinee.)
