stray grey kitty

A few days after Sybil passed away, I heard some meowing outside. I never saw the source…I figure Tak scared the kitty off. So since I have a little food left from Sybil, I stuck it outside on my front porch in a bowl. Some disappeared, then finally last night coming home I saw a dark shape on my front porch. It ran away before I could even get my car in the driveway. Since I usually let Tak out front, I moved the food to my side porch. And finally this morning, I got a good look at my little visitor. Charcoal grey, yellow eyes, I’m guess about 6 months old. It looks to me like a male kitty. Back in the day when I worked for a cat vet I could almost always tell if a cat was male or female just by looking. I mean at the front end. I don’t know if I still have that knack. There is a difference though. Their faces are shaped a little differently I think. Anyway, he looks healthy, so I don’t know if he’s one of the ferel cats around here or if he is lost or has recently been dumped. I guess I’ll keep feeding him and see what happens.

rest in peace sybil

sybil, the good catAbout 12:30 this afternoon I had to put Sybil to sleep. In the last few days she’d stopped eating and went downhill very quickly. After visiting the vet, I tried giving her sub-cutaneous fluids to try and get her well enough to do a blood work-up, but it just wasn’t enough. She had 18 years, 17+ with me. We’ve been through a lot together. It’s sort of the last piece of a former life. She weathered all the changes well and always remained “the good cat” even to the end. She will be horribly missed.
