Growing into little terrors

The kittens have definitely turned into little bundles of fun. They wrestle, play with toys, bite each other, purr, do halloween cat, and sleep in little piles. They’re eating crunchy food now and going in or slightly around the litter box. The one grey boy is still a lot bigger than the other two. He looks like he’s two weeks older than the others. Mama is also blossoming. She’s exploring the house more. This morning she was running around like a crazy cat and even sort of played with Tak for a bit. Tak still isn’t quite sure how to play with her without provoking the sharp bits. She’s quick and good at dodging them though. More new pictures here.

And then there were three

Well, I thought if the white kitty made it through the first week he’d be okay, but the little guy never developed like the other ones and finally died last night. Poor thing. At least he seemed to enjoy his short little life. So far, he’s the only one of the kittens I’ve heard purr. I let the kitties run around outside their box a little now. The grey tabby with the angel wings had overtaken the brown tabby as the fatass. Actually he’s the only one who can’t climb out of the box on his own yet. When the other two get out of the box, they like to practice running. He is perfecting that funny sideways walk that usually accompanies halloween cat. The smaller grey tabby is the only one who has shown an interest in mama’s food. He drinks out of her water bowl and munches down on her crunchies. That seems to freak her out a bit. But at some point she’ll make the connection: more crunchies = less nipple. Soon I’ll pop up another video. They’re much more fun to watch now. New photos are going into my flickr account.

Oh yeah, yet another cat has shown up at my house. this one isn’t feral. It’s a big fluffy brown tabby with white feet. It was going to try and eat on my back porch but one of the grey boys was having none of it. So I put a little food for it on the front porch. The kitty let me pet it right away, so this cat is either lost or dumped. Oh, maybe it’s my neighbor’s across the street. She said she had an older cat. I’ll have to check. I like that option best.

kitty kittens!

The kittens are growing by leaps and bounds now. For example, I heard a racket in their room a minute ago, went in there and found one had climbed out of the box. They’re getting all pouncy and playful. Their ears are standing up now. The white one is still way smaller than the others. And when I got home from work today, he had dislocated his shoulder. Luckily I had experience with my old doing just that and I was able to rotate it back into place. Unlike my old cat, he it didn’t seem to distress him. Oh, and so far he’s the only one I’ve heard purring. Oh, and of course there are more kitty pics. I’ve just been lazy and putting them in my flickr account. Go see them here.

Almost two weeks old

The kittens eyes are now wide open. The white one is lagging behind a bit. He doesn’t eat as much and is thinner and smaller. He seems to want to eat, but loses his way to the nipple. And isn’t interested when you put one in front of him. I’ve been supplementing him with a bit of kitten milk replacer. And he does suckle sometimes. Hopefully that’ll be enough to keep him going until they can start eating a mash. Mom is also still taking care of him, so he hasn’t been rejected. The striped ones have started playing with each other. They lay on their sides and box each other, occasionally biting on one another. They’re funny when they sleep. They look like little dead bodies.

One week old…getting a look at things

The kittens are a week old now and their eyes are starting to open. The white one, aside from proudly displaying his junk below, is indeed going to have siamese markings. I think you can see in these pictures that his tail and ears are starting to darken. He also seems to have gotten over his bottom of the stack status. So far no one is clearly dominate. The brown tabby likes to roll around on her back a lot. And one of the grey tabbies was biting someone else. But it’s still mostly a routine of sleeping and eating.
